Dancing with Dementia

A national participatory arts project developed during lockdown which explores the idea of dance as a metaphor for dementia.

People affected by dementia were asked to record their responses to the question
'if dementia was a dance, what kind of a dance would it be?'

Their responses were woven together with found sound and music to create a short audio documentary which hopes to highlight embodied experiences of dementia, and to consider how dance might help reimagine dementia; creating an alternative to the many metaphors connected with the inanimate, passive and object-like.
